Shadows of the night

[Muguruma Kensei]

The school at night has always been place for ghost stories and a place where creatures of the night had always liked to look for easy preys. Vampires had always used these spots as a hunting ground too over ther centuries... Some vampires think the blood of young peaple is actually tastier than taht of an old hag. Others think it's just the same, blood is blood... And for Azrazel Blood was just a mean to survive, it was not like he enjoyed sucking blood in the first place. He only did this in order to keep on living.
He always avoided sucking the blood of innocents unless the thirst was unbearable.
Tonight... was one of those days...

The night is shrouded in clouds which make it even harder to look fro the creatures of light, however, it was a better for creatures accustomed to darkness. It made easier to catch their prey without much effort.
An unaware gir was still in the school grounds in the library, she had been doing some research for the past few hours and was ready to go home when she heard a noise in the school hallways. She asked "Is anybody there?" but all he heared was silence... she continued walking from the third floor to the stairs leading to the first floor making haste as she was afraid of what lurked in the shadows. Something wise of her. When she arrived to the front door of the school she opened it and her path was blocked by a human-like shadow, she screamed as loud as her litttle lungs allowed and escape to the inner depths of school. She ran to the second floor and hid on a classroom hoping to have lost the aggresor. Suddenly she could listen to steps from the hallway outside from where she was. She wished the steps to just kept going and pass by the classroom and so it seemed to happen... she thought she had a chance to escape and ran to the door of the classroom and slam-opened it in order to run directly to the exit when she bumpped into something and fell to the ground. She raised her face slowly and all she could see was a pair of red glowing eyes.
From outside the school grounds all that could be heard was the girl's last scream of terror...

It was only a week or 2 that he had come back into the town. He had landed on yurikos doorsteps half dead. Shes still pissed of at me but i think ill live. Ill be sleeping on the couch for a long time. I deserve it. I feel bad about leaving her behind, but it doesent matter in the end she found out. Im a vampire hunter. She was real angry. i wouldent blame her.

School had ended and he had to stick around. he had to make up a lot of work so he was outside. The teacher said if he didnt finish his homework by the end of the week it was a sunspension. Oh god school, something id enjoy being away from. He looked at the students leaving the school. They laughed at him, he almost got held back for not being here a year. But he aced the finals so he passed.

They wernt laughing about him almost getting held back though. They were laughing at him staying after school for so long. Yea i hate it too. He also heard about people hitting on yuriko while he was gone. They ended up in the hospital the next day. No one knwos why. Or maybe i do hehehe.

Everyone had left and it was night time already. He sighed. He started to get up. He put all his stuff in his bookbag when he heard a scream. He threw his bookbag down and ran towards the source of the scream.

When he got there he saw a dead girl on the floor with bite marks on her neck. He looked up and saw 2 pairs of glowing red eyes. A vampire? Vampire, you have no right to be here. You know the rules he said with authority. He was the vampire hunter. He didnt like killing them. He was bloodthirsty and out of control. Reason wasent going to work.

He unseathed his zanpaktou and waited for the worst.

As Azrael sucked the last drop of blood from the girl the thirst started to recede, it was painful not to have drunk blood for the past few days but now he regained his strenght back at him. He then stood up and his eyes were directed at the new guest and as he sarted speaking his voice was that of two beings in one.

Azrael: Rules? Whose rules? The humans? Humans are a pitiful existance... their greed is annoying to this world... it's because of their greed that the land is crying... I don't care about human rules...

The sound of Azrael's metalic steps resonated in the hallway as he slowly started to approach the young man.

Azrael: Although I don't feel that greedy aura most humans have in you... you're quite... interesting...

Azrael vanished in shadows and reapeared behind the boy.

Azrael: Your smell is quite different too... Tell me... Who are you?...

[Hayuko]

He watched as he sucked the last of the girl. It was painful to watch. Watching the vampire suck the last of the girls blood. She didnt deserver to die like that. Her name was Ryochi. She was a girl in his class. She was a nice one too.

The land is crying, but you assume it is crying because of the humans. How do we know it is not because of the vampires?

He heard the footsteps as he approached.

in an instant he was behind me. So hes not a weakling thats nice to know.

Im the vampire hutner thats in love with a vampire. How ironic. He thought to himself as he flashsteped to the other side of the room. He didnt like the vampire being so close to him.

Now, its eighther you follow the rules, or things will get ugly

He said as he unseatehd his zanpaktou.

Azrael was amused by the answer of the young man. It was natural for a human not to realize their own fault towards the earth. Even so, Azrael felt like kept the talk a little longer.

Azrael: Vampires do not harm the nature by building factories everywhere or draining the land of it's life. We're not the ones that kill the nature by cutting more than the trees only needed to live... Humans are such a greedy creature that only think of themselves above anything else... I've seen it throughout the world as the time passes...

Azrael stopped for a moment, he knew the human would not understand, so he stopped there and watched at the sky through the window as a cloud allowed the moonlight to reach the school and showed Azrael as he was. His pale skin with long dark hair and his black clothing that matched the color of his hair...

Azrael: As I said before... I won't abide by any human rule... and if you intend in stopping me... well... just go ahead and try...

As he mouted this words a sword materialized into his right hand from the shadows. It wasn't a zanpakutoh but another kind of sword. Azrael eyes shifted back to Hayuko's eyes...

Azrael: My name is Azrael... pleased to meet you...

Azrael said these last words with an amused smile on his face, if he had to fight to get away peacefully from there he was ready for it...

He smiled at the response. Good awnser he said. It was true. Humans were idiotic. They were destroying there own world. He wasent about to stand up to something that had not point. If the humans wernt smart enough to realize there mistakes and change them, so be it. The shinigami wasent going to take responsibillity for them.

The clouds moved. The moonlight filled the dark halls. He saw what the shadows were hiding. It was a man with pale skin and black hair.

He saw a sword materialize in his hand

So, you wont follow the rules? he sighed. Most vampires wouldent. Although there were some that would. Matthew Barbara, yuriko, risa, they all follow them. Why cant the others? its not impossible to live in harmoney.

so it had to be resorted to a battle. Kashou Doroagon. were the 2 words that came out his mouth. In an instant the hall erupted from the amount of resiatsu. A dragon made out of dark flames appeared behind him. (It sorta the shape of hitsugayas shikai)

his shikai had once been a bright Red colered flame. Now it was pitch black. Ever since he came back from his 1 year trip. The dragon raged threw the hall and tore it into peices as it attacked the black haired vampire. lets see what you got.

Azrael stood there as Hayuko called forth the spirit of his sword. He smiled at the shape it took. Now it was clear that his opponent was not a mere human.

Azrael: Ohh... A dragon isn't it?... What a wonderful creature... but it won't make me stand back.

Azrael's grip on his sword tightened and then as the dragon plunged to him he jumped out the window and almost instantaneously appeared in the school courtyard.

Azrael: Dragons do have a fearsome destructive capability... but that beast won't be able to touch me...

Azraelawaited Hayuko to came out. he wasn't going to just charge in when everything was covered in smoke and fire. He knew that inside there he could be in disadvantage.

[Hayuko]

He watched as he jumped outside of the window.

The smoke rose. The enemy was outside. He would use the smoke to his advantage. The enemy didn't know who he was up against. Hayuko was 3rd squads vice-captain, and he had abilities much stronger than those of a captain.

The dragon came out of the smoke and attacked azrael from above, at the same time he flashsteped out of the building and landed on the school courtyard.

we will see he said as his dragon attacked azrael.

If he had to, he would go all out.

It was clear enough the enemy was strong but that was nothing to be afraid of to Azrael's eyes, he had his own abillities after all... Azrael turned his face up and just as he saw the dragon comming everything turned slow around him and as he gazed at the fire he just got out of the way in the last moment, making it seem like he was swallowed in the fire. Just as the fire burst into the ground, Azrael appeared to one side of Hayuko with his sword over his shoulder.

Azrael: Hmm... I thought you would be seroius from the start... but i guess I was wrong... Never take vampires lightly, it might cost you your life on day...

Azrael smiled as he kept looking to the fire where he was standing just seconds ago.

Azrael: Tell me, are you one of those so-called Soul Reapers... am I right?

Azrael had lived long enough to know about their existance and he was aware of what he was fighting against. If he took lightly every oponent he had found along his "life" he wouldn't be standing around right now.

[Hayuko]

He flash stepped away from the vampire landing on the ground. It was clever. He almost got me to put my guard down by making it seem the fires had engulfed him. Its true he should never take vampires lightly. He remembered that on his last little match with the member of the vampire council himself. Kyo.

So, you want me to go full out? You'll regret it he asked. He promised yuriko he wouldn't scare her again so he couldn't end up too bruised.

BAN....KAI he shouted as the field erupted into a mass amount of resiatsu. A dark dragon made out of fire and the area around him was surrounded by dark flames. His dragon went over his body, creating 2 wings and a tail. It also covered his arms and legs in dark flames. His Zanpaktou became dark and slim. A few seconds later it was covered by dark flames.

He pointed his zanpaktou at the vampire and a dragon appeared. This time at a much greater speed, with an amazing amount of power. This form was powerful. But he could still do better.

[Muguruma Kensei]

Azrael smiled as Hayuko summoned his real power. Now he could really get serious. And so he took his battle stance.

Azrael: Now that's more like it... Let's go all out shall we?

Azrael's speed was already superior from any human, and being a vampire he had become a lot stronger over the centuries. If the Reaper had a strong attack it would have to be able to match to his speed, and even if it matched his speed it would be hard for him to match his abillity. He summoned the power of his sword once more but this time, he went over the flames mixing his speed and the slowed time to get around the fire without touching it. Fire was harmful enough, not to say what black fire could do. As he dashed over the fire that surrounded Hayuko he used the speed to cut a path through the fire that surrounded his enemy and slashed aiming to Hayuko's left arm and got away before he could attempt a counter-attack or swallow him on the fire, re-appearing 10 meters away to Hayuko's left.

Azrael: I won't allow myself to be touched by that flame... but you can try catching me as long as you wish Sir Hayuko

[Hayuko]

He went right threw his fire, What was with this insane speed. It was almost as if he was stopping time. Dodging every attack. He attacked his left. Using his left wing he blocked the attack. He grinned. This wasn't your average opponent. He couldn't match his speed, but speed and power arnt the key to winning.

Dark flames appeared from the ground below the vampire. Eat this! he shouted as a dragon made of fire appeared in front of hayuko. The dragon charged at the vampire at the same time the flames from below started to appear. The dragon split into 3 as it surrounded the vampire. The flames from below attacked the vampire, and the dragons surrounded him making it almost impossible to dodge. It was an attack that required a lot of concentration. But once he was in his grasp it wasn't easy to escape.

i dont know where you got that insane speed from. What i do know is that speed inst everything. he said as the flames attempted to shred him.

Azrael watched as the flames came from every direction, this time Hayuko had made it harder to escape and it required Azrael's abillity at full potency to small the time almost to a stop as he slashed an opening from the fire and dived into it only to get away with a fire explosion behind him. That attack had really made Azrael to use his reflexes like he had never done before. He came walking from out the smoke without breathing it, who knows what that cloud of smoke might do, he didn't know what was his opponent's true abillity, he might be hiding something else and he wasn't willing to take the risk.

Azrael: Of course speed is not everything... If you hadn't realized, my abillity is not just being fast. You see... I have the abiliity to slow down time around me... when things get ugly it takes some of my energy to slow down the time for me to get into a good position but as long as I don't need to slow down time for too long, it's not much of a deal to me... However that attack made me almost stop time, draining a good piece of energy... energy i will have to refil with more blood...

Azrael's metalic footsteps resounded in the schoolyard grounds as he kept walking. He was smiling as he had found a strong oponent. It had been a while since Azrael felt his blood so warm... it was his blood boiling from his battle instincts, the blood of a proud warrior.

Azrael: As much as I would like to continue with this it seems I have to regain energy, thanks to you now I have to regain some of the energy I just recovered... Until we meet again, Sir Hayuko...
As Azrael said this he vowed towards Hayuko and transformed into many vampires that went amiss into the dark night...

[Hayuko]

Stop time? He asked almost in disbelief. It was bad enough if he was fast. It was impossible to be so fast with such great reflexes. But stopping time...... He dint expect that. It amazes me that he was able to get out of such an attack. It really takes out some resiatsu. So he could slow down time, but not completely stop it. So to some extent.......... I can still beat him if i became faster. No, i couldent take out the mask thats for sure. He thought to himself. There was also a special technique he picked up on his 1 year trip. The form of darkness. Id not used right could take over you. It was a dangerous one. Thats why when he came back instead of his flames being bright red, they were pitch black. Resembling darkness.

i knew it was abnormal for someone to be able to move at such a speed, with such reflexes........ but i never suspected the abillity to slow down time. he said. The true purpose of his attack was so he could bring out the extent of his speed. His true power. To think he could stop time.

Refill energy....With blood?! This time stop at the blood bank. I wont be having you eating any more humans. he said before the vampire before him vanished. After he vanished hayuko thought for the moment. What were yurikos powers going to be like? Vampires have such amazing powers. He thought as he walked over to where he left his book bag. He picked it up and put it on his back. wonder what shell think about today he said to himself as he looked at the bruise on his shoulder. When did i get this? he asked himself. He got up and put his mind of it. He began to walk over to yurikos house. what a bizzare day......
